NoRweGiaN inTeRioRs

Today I want to share with you some facts about Norway.
I am currently back in Oslo to live and work. Being back after a few years in UK, I am learning more about this amazing country.

Even during my studies I looked at Nordic design and lifestyle. During my dissertation, I even looked at Norway's development status and how factors such as health, economy, politics and sciences have an impact on the design industry.

Well if you didn't know:

+ Norway is the world's happiest country according to the Legatum Institute Prosperity Index. I believe the great preservation of nature plays it's part.
+ Norway is probably the most expensive country in the world. According to latest surveys, Oslo ranks first on the top most expensive cities in the world and also in 3rd position is Stavanger (3rd biggest city in Norway).

+ Norway is finally the 4th richest country in the world thanks to North sea oil and good governance! You can now understand how the statements above are dependant on this last one.

Anyway, design in Norway is well developed and is expanding in all directions. I will focus on the housing situation and give you examples of how design is integrated in Norwegian society, especially in peoples homes.

Please notice the high standard of common houses that are on the market for sale.

I assure you these are not renders! heheh

These were all apartments. Now houses are on a different level and of course price range!!

From modern to traditional, the interior remains of high quality.

Amazing views

So this is more of a mansion than a house!

I love that it blends in with the landscape

The play on high and low ceilings make for an interesting atmosphere in the house!

And lets not forget light through the windows and doors. By the way the images above and below this text are from the master bedroom!! This is bigger than most people's living room!!!!

There is a gym of course.

And a swimming pool!

As that is not enough there is a wine cellar!!!!!

How rich are these people! and why are they selling ??

Hehehe! nice play on materials throughout the house and "field" meaning the garden.

This is one of my favourite on the market.
Look how modern this yellow house is!

Old meets New

Neutral with injections of Colours

Finally a Bright, Neat office for all the inspiration to flow!

If you think that the tilted effect is the only unbalanced part of this project thing again.

It also is on the edge of a cliff!!!!!

So this building is meant to be a Hotel in Lima,Peru.
If everything goes to plan it should be one of the capital and the country's landmark.

If you are asking yourself WHY design such a dangerous and frame like shape?

The reason being, the firm OOIIO architecture

was focused on offering perfect view throughout the building and from afar.
Who would blame them when from one side you can see the pacific ocean and from the  other side the Andes.

Not only is this building cool from the outside but the interior is also spectacular.

The spaces are open and bright. I like the idea of the greenery hanging from the ceiling. This

The hotel design is connects both sea and land.

Here is one of the 125 rooms the projects offers, not to mention  restaurants, meeting rooms and conference halls.

Today, I found these manipulated photographs from Swedish artist Erik Johannson. They made me want to post more stuff.

 "Go Your Own Road."

"A Painting Too Real."

I love the ideas behind them and the messages they give or try to embody. The artist himself says:

" I don’t capture moments, I capture ideas."

"Cut and Fold (Cut Along the Dotted Line)."

"Set Them Free (Do the Right Thing, Set Them Free!)."

These images are layered and retouched several times to achieves these really impressive visuals.

"Deep Cuts."

"Vertical Turn."

"Helping Fall."

TriNiTy LeeDs

So Leeds has a new shopping complex called TRINITY! I visited it this weekend and found it amazing!

As this rendering and the model show, the complex is an transitional space between the different areas of the city center.

One of the artist who's work is in Trinity is Andy Scott. Here are some of his sculptures.

These sculptures can be taken to an architectural level!

The PoWeR oF GeOMeTrY !!!

Wow !!! This video is hypnotising !! The effect are incredible !! I love the symmetry and the motion created !
The lighting techniques and the set-up enhances this clip.

SHades of grey , blues and a touch of green and red !!!

The way French monuments are projected and multiplied and divides and put in symmetrical views !!!! My favorite is the effect on the Notre Dame building !!!!!!!!!!!
