Now that foundation is over. It's time for my degree to start !
So this part of my blog is where you can find all my design projects from my University years.

Most projects are 6 weeks long and with diffrent deliverables
Design, Creativity, Drawing,Technical, Practical
All skills are being put to the test :)

YEAR 1

EmOtive DesIgN

So the brief to my first ever Uni project was called

3D design fundamentals

Design an emotive space
One should be negative, the other positive.
There should also be a connection point between the two spaces.
We were asked to make a model, an inspirational moodboard, a presentation board and a development file with sketches.

To translate emotions to space I looked at :
Shape/Size/Colour/Surface/Texture/Weight/ Elements/Belief

So here is the file I did.
First,  I looked at images and spaces I considered POSITIVE.
In the order I cited earlier

Round,Spacious,Curvy,Bright,Smooth,Light,Water,Heaven....

Then I looked at spaces that could represent these terms.
So I focused on DOMES.

Then it was NEGATIVE's turn
ZigZag,Narrow,Edgy, Dark, Rough, Heavy, Fire,Hell...

These got me focusing on MAZES

I had a design drawn out. It was time to build it.
This was going to be my first model since Temptation street during Foundation.
Was excited and I think it turned out well.
Had to buy the materials, got all the help I needed from the workshop tutors, and put a lot of effort into it.

I worked with the materials from the workshop. Made the dome using a vacuum forming technique, cut out the wood, sanded it, drilled it, bended the metal, found the base and cut out the entrance ...

My connection point is an elevator getting you from the negative space to the positive one.
Notion of UP and DOWN.
The other connection in this emotive design is GLASS. I use it both for the negative and the positive spaces. This is my way of showing that emotion is relative. What is a comfortable space for you may definitely not be for me.

My design is a journey.
You start at the bottom,in the dark,in an unpleasant environment. You walk through the rusted metal maze and onto the broken glass and gravel.

You will then reach an elevator, that will take you up, to the light, to a beautiful and peaceful view of the surroundings
Around you will smell the plants, hear the water, and feel the sun on your face.
You are in a "bubble" of freshness!

The module was called 3D Design Narrative.

This was our 2nd project. Our aim was to provide orthographic drawings, plans, elevation, sections, isometric. We were set in groups to measure an area of our university building:
The Centenary Building.

We had to go around with tape measures and get all the dimensions you can possibly imagine. Down to the screw on the staircase !
Had no idea there was so much info to gather to do a scaled architectural drawing.
Also this was our first real use of AutoCAD since we had been introduced to the program 6 weeks earlier.

Attention to detail was important to bring as much information into the drawing. This means dimensions, lightweight, entourage ( notice my fashionable lady ) and annotations.

We also during this project had to provide a 3D image of the space we were assigned. We had a few lessons on perspective drawing using drawing boards, scaled rulers and techniques such and distance point and one point perspective...( hard work !!)

All this had to be presented on a "Client board" to practice our layout and arrangements skills.
To produce my board I used Photoshop and introduced CAD drawings and hand drawn perspective drawing.
